I‍ris Bernoulli

Iris Bernoulli is a Helsinki-based visual artist and composer working across sound, objects and space, currently studying at the Sibelius Academy.

Her work explores the tension between the sacred and the mundane. Recurring materials such as gold transform everyday objects and environments into ambiguous, ritual-like situations where humour, shame, and physicality coexist. A toilet may become a sanctuary, and a score may appear as a visual surface rather than a readable system.

Moving between music and visual art, Bernoulli creates spaces where listening and looking intertwine. Her work invites the audience into poetic and subtly absurd situations in which meaning remains open.

THE GOLDEN BLESSING

The Golden Blessing is a sound installation built around a fully functional golden portable toilet placed in public space.

At first glance it resembles an ordinary festival toilet — but look inside and you will find something entirely different.

The work treats the toilet visit as one of the few universal rituals shared by all humans. Regardless of culture, language or social status, everyone understands how to approach the object and what to do with it. By reframing this everyday infrastructure, the installation turns a familiar action into a small contemporary ritual.
