MUSIC - KROPE
In ‘Krope’, Belarusian electroacoustic musician and field recordist Anton Anishchanka presents a live performance drawn from his six-part conceptual album. Conceived with a film-like narrative logic, the work reshapes fragile folk recordings from Belarusian ethnographic archives into evolving sonic environments where archival voices unfold within contemporary sound art.
The performance is built around traditional songs recorded between the 1960s and 2000s during ethnographic expeditions in rural Belarus. In the live setting, they’re recontextualised through environmental soundscapes, analogue synthesis, and real-time processing. Voices that once documented everyday village life — songs of love, exile, mourning, and endurance — gradually emerge from layered sonic textures, forming an emotional narrative.
